JOURNALIST

Bio

EVENING STANDARD My home is the London Evening Standard, for which I write and edit its historic Londoner's Diary column. The column is a sketchbook of the goings-on of high profile people, a record of the shifting sands of style, money, intellectual life and reputation in the capital. Previous editors include Harold Nicolson,  Winston Churchill - for a week when his son Randolph, the real editor, was away -  and more lately Max Hastings and Sarah Sands, the current editor of the newspaper.

I am also a regular feature writer and interviewer for the Evening Standard, covering a range of subjects from the art world to political gossip, trends, and of course the people who make it all go round.

You might also have met me at Trouble, the pop-up club in Central London with a mission to put great women speakers on stage and create a home-from-home for our members.  Speakers have included Mary Beard, Justine Picardie, Natalie Bennett and we built a nice little network.

We've just put up new talks for 2017, including a European jaunt.
